Support Services
Programs and Services

There is no other organization in the Notheast Florida and Southeast Georgia area that does what we do. Here are some of the programs and services we provide...

Child Advocate
As a core member of a child's health care team, the Child Advocate provides opportunities for play, learning and self expression designed to minimize the stress and anxiety of a child in treatment. Based in the Nemours Children's Clinic Oncology Division, the advocate works with the children and their families, helping them to cope with the often intimidating and frightening treatment experiences. Educational presentations at area schools assist the child's teacher and peers understand cancer and the treatment process so that re-entry into the classroom is an easier transition.

Financial Assistance
Medical treatment for a child fighting cancer is rigorous and time consuming. Often a parent must leave employment for long periods to care for the child. Income drops off just when medical expenses and fears for the child' well being escalate. Social workers at Wolfson Children's Hospital and Nemours Children's Clinic Administer our Financial Assistance Program. Regardless of income level, families facing financial hardship can receive help with housing costs, utility bills, auto loans, auto and homeowners insurance, food, gas, and other expenses that medical insurance does not cover.

Support Services
During treatment and afterwards, children and their families need many different types of care and support. Our programs and services offer families the emotional, educational, and practical support they need to make it through this challenging experience. We host a family retreat weekend at the Camp Boggy Creek north of Orlando every year. We also financially underwrite monthly support group meetings, provide educational materials to families and we also provide the financial support for the Late Effects Clinic which follows patients after treatment to make sure the child is getting physical, emotional, dietary and educational support needed after treatment.
